Peak Pizza? Domino's Chief Executive Steps Down After Shift Towards Chicken.

A chief executive of Domino's Pizza Group who proposed the United Kingdom might have reached maximum pizza demand while diversifying the chain into poultry items has been ousted after tensions with its board.

Executive Change

The former CEO is exiting after a brief tenure in leadership, and will be succeeded on an temporary basis by the organization's chief operating officer, Frampton, while the pizza giant searches for a new leader.

The outgoing executive, who served at Domino's for a substantial period, had sought to redirect the UK's biggest pizza delivery company towards poultry-based products, stating earlier this month there was not “significant expansion” left in the British pizza industry. He noted chicken was the most rapidly expanding menu item in the world.

Board Disagreements

It is understood that there was friction between Rennie and the governance team over his focus and direction, although Domino's official statement said he was departing “by mutual agreement”.

New Product Launch

In the autumn, Domino's introduced its chicken-focused product line – which the former chief described as a “significant new phase” for the organization – and is piloting it in select stores in the north-west of England and the province.

While the firm is still going to roll it out across its almost 1,400 stores in 2026 as planned, it regards fried chicken as a supplement for its main pizza offerings.

Board Statement

The Domino's chair, the Domino's chair, commented: “We are confident that there are a range of possibilities to drive further growth and profitability in the main pizza segment. We are prioritizing selecting the ideal CEO to oversee the disciplined execution of that expansion plan.”

Market Difficulties

Earlier this month, the pizza delivery giant, which has a substantial customer base in the British Isles, said sales dipped by 1.5% in the latest quarter. In the summer, it cautioned that the quick-service industry had “grown more challenging” as it blamed reduced spending in the lead-up to the budget and increasing labor expenses for below-target performance and a 15% drop in six-month income.

Rival chains are also facing challenges. Pizza Hut revealed the closure of multiple locations a recently, after the company behind its outlets entered insolvency.

Health Initiatives

Responding to customer preferences towards better nutrition, Domino's has rolled out reduced-calorie options, such as its Thin & Crispy range of bakes below 400 calories as well as vegan and wheat-free pizzas. A large pepperoni pizza has over 2,300 kcal. A big margherita has 2,171, while a individual has under 1,000 calories.

Acting Leadership

The interim chief has been with Domino's since the recent past, and was formerly with the betting firm a well-known operator. It is understood that she is not seeking to assume the top job permanently.

She said: “We have a multiple active development and performance initiatives that we will be dedicated to executing at pace.”

She added these included further work on the organization's supply chain and menu innovation, and its rewards program.

Domino's is also without a long-term chief financial officer until March 16, when Andrea joins from the drinks company a well-known firm. For now, Snow acts as interim finance chief.
